School History

Holy Innocents Juniorate Convent Nkpor was established in 1985 and officially opened on 18th October the same year with 63 students and 7 teachers. The Diocese on the Niger has a passion for godliness, good morale, and academic excellence. These things were lacking in most schools around, yet they are essential ingredients to make a young girl outstanding with good morals, in this present society, it is pretty difficult to search out Ladies who are morally equipped for home making consequent upon this, there arose a need to educate young girls in serene environment void of any type of pollution to equip them spiritually, morally and socially. This is one of the oldest convent schools east of the Niger and has turned out eminent personalities in all fields of life.

Geographical Location

Holy Innocents Juniorate Nkpor is located in Amafor West of Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North Local Government, Anambra State. The convent is very close to “Holy Cross Catholic Church. The same road leads to St. Paul’s Anglican Church Nkpor-Agu, after which the convent, will be located. Holy Innocents Juniorate Convent has an ideal environment for academic acquisition and moral training.

 Education (KEY NOTE)

Education is the training of one’s mind, knowledge attained by instruction; the art of teaching it is freedom from ignorance. It is bedrock to success. It is also a road map to reach to the zenith of one’s carrier in life. Sound knowledge must go with diligence and hard work. The journey to greatness starts only when one discovers his/her potential, sets his goal, and believes in his own ability. It is a grievous mistake that people make, to think of the next person as more gifted or special. This ideology has made us unable to believe in our capabilities. How then, do you live up to expectation? The first step is to set a goal for yourself which is achievable and not fantasy. Only goal setters are goal getters. Then concentrate on that goal which you have set for yourself and work in that direction. Geniuses are not born but made, so strive for success as our success is conditioned by the amount of risks we are ready to take. The saying goes “the big fish is not caught in shallow waters.” Some people dream about being successful in life but don’t strive fervently to bring their dreams to accomplishment. Determination is the key which breeds success alongside perseverance and seriousness. Many students erroneously think that success can be attained with little or no effort. This has paved the way for escalating moral laxity and indiscipline among students. These include exam malpractice and truancy. Here are the words of a great Philosopher.” The heights which men have reached and maintained were not attained by sudden flight but while their companions were asleep at night, they were busy toiling upwards. Focus on your education because it is the foundation upon which your future will be built. Education sets you on equal pedestal with everybody else in the world and it gives your mind to be. Do yourself some good.

 PRINCIPAL'S REMARK

The purpose of establishing HOLY INNOCENTS JUNIORATE CONVENT, Nkpor is to train up young girls to develop them spiritually and morally in order to be useful, versatile, reliable, trust-worthy, and self-reliant Ladies and future good mothers of tomorrow. Our nation, state, and church need such women who can discharge their duties faithfully, devotedly, creditably and with integrity, knowledge and fear of God.
